Tesla recalls over 2 million cars due to safety hazards in autonomous driving

According to foreign media reports, Tesla is recalling over 2 million vehicles, including the 2012-2023 Model S, 2016-2023 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y, due to concerns about the misuse of its Autopilot system by car owners, covering all models equipped with FSD Beta (fully autonomous driving) software.

The website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States revealed that after investigation, it was found that drivers still have hidden dangers when activating some of Tesla's vehicle automation systems. In some cases, when the autonomous driving function is activated, the protrusion and range controlled by the function may not be sufficient to prevent the driver from misoperating.

 

Foreign media pointed out that this move is the result of NHTSA's years long defect investigation into Tesla, and this investigation will continue because the agency stated that it will continue to monitor the effectiveness of Tesla's subsequent recalls.
