As of November 28, 2023, the price of battery grade lithium carbonate has decreased by 2000 yuan/ton, with an average price of 136000 yuan/ton.This trend continues the recent downward trend in
lithium prices and sets the lowest bid for the year.This price drop is good news for new energy vehicle manufacturers as it will further reduce their manufacturing costs.
It is worth noting that the price of battery grade lithium carbonate once approached a high point of 600000 yuan/ton in November 2022, but then rapidly declined. By April 2023, its price had dropped to 200000 yuan/ton. This sustained price decline has paved the way for the reduction of manufacturing costs for new energy vehicles. Zhu Jiangming, the chairman of Zero Run Motors, mentioned that a decrease in the price of lithium carbonate per 10000 tons can save 50 yuan per kilowatt hour of battery, which means saving 3500 yuan for a 70kWh battery pack.
